One week in, and a quick glimpse around Blurps reveals the following indicators of van-down-by-the-river life: half a pool noodle, a crumpled ketchup napkin, a used peanut butter knife, a wet bathing suit atop a cooler containing half-loaf of fancy bread.
Clearly, we're starting to really embrace the gypsy life. Barefoot constantly, changing behind trees, eating day old doggy bags out of the back of the trunk. Liz's woods-peeing tally is around 8-9 at this point. We're also starting to lose track of days of the week.
Home Sweet Homeless
To begin this morning, Liz's clothes exploded all over the room, and our hosts' adorable bulldog puppy, Chip, helped clean up. We've become extreme bag ladies/homeless and locating anything requires a team of search dogs to ransack Lil Blurps.
Breakfast included delicious scones from Mckay's Cottage:
We took a stroll around Bend to get a better feel for the town. Considered trading in Blurps for this beaut:
Driving through Oregon headed south, asking every five seconds when the landscape would start looking like Twilight. Once it got woodsy, we found Umpqua hot springs, an oasis of spiritual healing in the woods.
The walk there was about 1/4 mile into deep woods.
Found a backwoods bonanza in the form of a bear scat filled poop dump...turd cup runneth over
Tried very hard not to stare at naked old people canoodling in the pools. Failed. One woman was completely splayed belly up, and it was TRES DIFICIL not to ogle her massive lady lumps spilling onto her boyfriend's chest as he soaked his quarter-inch corndog peen in the spring. #titsoutfortheboys
Also, Liz is now a ginger thanks to sulfuric spring water dampening her tresses. Free ombré for her.
Crater Lake offered stunning views and was a worthwhile side trip. Hilariously, we
overheard a 10-year-old huffing and puffing up a very slight hill commenting "I can't do hills I'm from Texas."
Ended the day by arriving in Crescent City around 9pm. Tomorrow we hit San Fran!
